WHAT SHOULD I DO?
(it seems obvious to me, but i am not always practical.)
OPTION #1: go to europe for two months this summer. it is a way to separate myself from my current (depressing) situation and revisit old friends and go back to germany, a place i have loved but havent seen in years. i have friends in england, and friends in germany. i could stay in england for free, then travel to germany and perhaps sublet a room for a month. i will be subletting my own room, so that isnt a big problem. i can also take up to a 90 day leave of absense and still keep my job. (in fact, my boss said it would probably be no problem to get me covered during our slow summer months.) i have money sitting around due to selling my truck and getting a nice tax return, so its totally plausible. and i could always reapply for a line of credit at my bank as a back up plan. i can restore my mental health, completely avoid flan (by being completely unable to communicate with her anyway) and have a good time in the meanwhile. if my mental health does not return, atleast i have a trip i will always remember.
OPTION #2: I haven't been so financially stable in a long time. I have half the debt I had at this time last year, I dont have to worry about giving a check to my roommates for bills or rent, i can buy groceries, and still have a cushion in my bank account. its kind of nice to not have to live paycheck to paycheck, and my cost of living has gone down significant since i moved out of the house with flan. i could save my money, stay financially stable, and put off the trip until i'm out of debt. it may take me longer to get over flan, but perhaps with the extra money, i could get some counseling or something. its a comfortable life being about to buy the new shoes you need, or dinner for your friends, etc. |
